Combine documents with PDF Binder

PDF binder is a simple that lets you combine several PDF documents together, into a single file. Merging a number of PDF documents through this program is one of the best PDF tools online that's extremely easy, as one just needs to collect them from their sources, and put them together in a single file. PDF Binder is a free tool with a GNU (general public use) license.

What can PDF Binder be used for?

PDF Binder is an easy-to-use tool for combining and merging a number of separate PDF documents. This makes it easier to share and save the documents in a single file, instead of separately. It works similar to a zip tool, but the file is not compressed as it can be in a zip. The PDF Binder also allows you to add or remove, rearrange, or adjust the PDF files.

PDF Binder has many practical applications, like to create a portfolio. PDF Binder can be used to put several PDF documents together to one single-document as a portfolio of work. For a school project or for a compilation of projects too, PDF Binder works very well. It can also be used to combine information from a number of sources if they have been saved on various folders or drives.

PDF Binder makes it easier to share a single document, instead of attaching a large number of individual documents. The single file is a combination of the individual documents, and the file size also increases accordingly, but it is still easier to share.

What goes in favor of PDF Binder?

PDF Binder is a really minimalistic, functional tool to combine several PDF documents into a single one. The program is quick to download, install, and run. The main function of PDF Binder is to bind and combine documents together, and it does that with simplicity and without any hassles at all. It makes it so much easier to share and store a number of documents together, to create a portfolio of work, combine documents from a different source, create a master file with all documents.

The interface is really minimalistic too, with a clear blank window with an Add button, where you can just add files, in a list format. You can also rearrange the order of documents, or delete some documents. Also, while a more comprehensive paid version is also available, PDF Binder is completely free to download and use. There are also no in-app interruptions or ads that interfere with the program’s basic functioning.

What goes against the program?

The free version of PDF Binder is really bare, does not have any other features or functions other than putting together documents and combining them into a single file. It doesn’t allow any edits or modifications of the documents, not even to change page orientations. The program is quite bare, as it does not even allow you to view the final combined product, but one must open that in a PDF reader, most commonly Adobe.

If someone has a full version of Adobe Writer, this separate program is not needed at all, as documents can be combined right there, when they are being created. In Adobe writer, they can also be edited extensively and be used as a simple reader. Moreover, PDF Binder cannot work without any PDF reader and is not a comprehensive one-stop-shop for PDF.

Also, converting files is not possible in the free version, and they need to be saved as a PDF version necessarily. While arranging the files may be possible with the PDF finder, it is tricky to order them, as they are only visible in the list format and only the title of the file can be seen. So every time you need to know what order to put them in, you have to open a separate PDF reader, see what the document is, then go back to PDF Binder to arrange them. This actually makes a simple function more complicated, and time-consuming. A simple view or preview feature would have made this a lot more intuitive. Also, due to the lack of features, one needs to have another PDF reader/writer document to do anything at all with the PDF document.

The program is only available on Windows, and not for other operating systems like iOS or Android. Since a lot of work and files are now saved on mobile devices, this is rather restrictive.

What are the alternatives to PDF Binder?

Some alternatives to PDF Binder are Online PDF Binder, PDF Element, PDF Wiz, for WIndows. In terms of functionality and ease of use PDF Binder is clearly the best program to use, however, the alternative program has more features than just binding PDF documents. For instance, PDF Wiz allows you to merge specific pages for several documents. In PDFElement, one can even convert a PDF file to a word format, insert digital signatures, sign documents. One can also navigate and edit the document and create a digital version of paper documents.

The Online PDF Binder doesn’t fare as well as the PDF Binder, as there are clear issues with reliability. Sometimes the documents don’t get saved correctly, and the functions are not completed due to bandwidth limitations. In this case, PDF Binder works better.

What is the final verdict on PDF Binder?

Overall, PDF Binder is a minimalistic, easy to use program that is fuss-free and does what it has to without any extra features. It enables users to bind PDF documents together, and do save them as a single PDF file. However, one cannot view or preview the documents, and only see them in a list view or titles. This makes it more complicated to arranged or delete files from the comprehensive document.

Unlike other alternatives, this means PDF Binder is not a comprehensive PDF program and is rather bare to work with. One would be better off getting another program with more features, than downloading PDF Binder, along with 2-3 other programs for other features.
